Cape Town in 7 Days: City, Coast and Winelands

A Cape Town 7 day itinerary works best with one hotel base and separate days for the city, Peninsula and Winelands. Six nights give you room for varied experiences without a new check-in after every outing.

A suggested week

Day Main focus
1 Arrive, transfer and settle in
2 City orientation and waterfront time
3 A selected mountain or city experience
4 Cape Peninsula excursion
5 Winelands visit
6 Flexible day for a priority experience
7 Checkout and departure

Start with the city and one main priority

Cape Town Tourism’s experience overview provides ideas including Table Mountain, Robben Island, the Peninsula and Winelands. Choose the visits that matter to your group before arranging the week.

For any weather-sensitive attraction, check the operator’s current availability, ticket conditions and alternatives. Keep a flexible day rather than depending on one fixed opportunity. A ticket or a general seasonal description cannot guarantee operation or clear views.

Give the Peninsula a separate day

The tourism board’s week itinerary includes Cape Point as a substantial visit. Ask your provider for the exact route, planned stops and a realistic return time from your hotel.

Confirm admissions and any separate transport or activity ticket at the stops. A drive through an area is different from enough time to explore it. If travelling with children or anyone with limited mobility, discuss walking, steps and access in advance.

Plan a Winelands outing around the group

Choose the places and type of visit you want rather than treating every estate stop as identical. Cape Town Tourism’s Winelands planning suggestions highlight scenery, architecture and dining alongside wine experiences.

Confirm whether tastings are included, whether reservations are required and what the alternatives are for non-drinkers and children. Arrange suitable transport and do not plan to drive after drinking.

Choose the hotel for daily access

Compare exact addresses and pickup arrangements rather than selecting only from a sea-view photograph. Ask about the route to restaurants, room category, breakfast timing and any access requirements.

A one-hotel stay leaves luggage in one place and makes a flexible day easier. A Winelands overnight is another valid holiday structure, but price the hotel change, transport and different airport journey before adding it.

Keep the final full day genuinely usable

Use it for an experience not yet covered or for slower city time. Avoid selling it twice as both a weather fallback and a separate non-changeable excursion. If the key activity has already operated, decide whether you want another visit or simply time at the hotel.

Confirm the complete cost and arrangements
